The South Church Board of Christian Outreach involves the whole congregation in care of our wider community. In the past year we filled Emergency Clean-Up Buckets for Church World Service, hosted neighborhood fun nights, and held a rummage sale to redistribute clothing in the community. We facilitated the South Church teams for the Steppin’ Up to End Violence and CROP Walk.
A major global connection is our Ukama partnership with City Central Church in Mutare, Zimbabwe, and in 2018 we hosted Samuel Mwayingeni. We also support Our Church’s Wider Mission and five local agencies. We support Got Lunch! Newport, a grocery delivery program for needy students during school breaks. Finally, Christian Outreach provides opportunities for charitable giving through its Blankets and Tools spring offering and its annual holiday Alternative Gift Catalog.
Outreach is woven into the fabric of South Church, and our congregation responds readily and generously.
