Our worship services are held in a historic brick meetinghouse, wrapped by windows on both the sanctuary floor and open balcony above. Bright and open, the room encourages reflection on the generations who have worshipped before. Each week the pews fill with old friends and new, happy to see each other and wishing one another good morning.
Services normally feature a variety of music performed by choirs (senior, bell, and folk) accompanied by the organ, piano, guitar, or other instruments. Children gather before the altar while older youth often read scripture aloud — some special services are entirely created by children, teachers and mentors. It all blends into a comfortable and easy engagement. A common refrain: “South Church just feels like home.” |
