Music director
Alexander Stewart is music director at Newport High School, and music director & organist at South Congregational Church. Between the two positions, he conducts three choirs, two bands, and one bell choir. He plays on a fully restored 1921 three-manual Estey Pipe Organ.
Recent accompaniment engagements include the 70th season of the Newport-based Area Choir, the 75th annual Lyme Congregational Church Christmas pageant, and Kearsarge High School’s performance of 42nd Street. Alex is also head coach of the Newport High School Cross Country team and a director of the Choral Arts Foundation of the Upper Valley. He sings bass with the NH Troubadours and is a gardener and amateur woodworker.
He is a piano student of Ms. Carleen Graff, an organ student of Mrs. Beverly Caldon, and grateful to call Newport home.
