About the musicians...
Charlotte Perkins (violin) was born and raised in New London, New Hampshire, and now lives in Glasgow, where she is working towards her masters degree in Violin Performance at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
In Scotland she is best known for her work with Haver Quartet, a genre-defying ensemble committed to bringing the joy of live music to as many people as possible. With Haver and other ensembles, Charlotte loves playing in non-traditional spaces, from schools to prisons to hospitals—and plenty of places in between. She is the artistic director of Mackintosh Ensemble, an unconducted chamber orchestra with whom she looks forward to performing as director and soloist for Mozart’s A Major Violin Concerto at Glasgow Cathedral in March 2025. |
Alexander Stewart (piano) is a musician, architect, and man about town. This year’s Darkness to Light performance is his second large-scale collaboration with his friend and violinist Charlotte Perkins.
This past fall, with Trimba artist Julian Calv, Alexander performed three shows on piano of Moondog on the Keys, featuring the works by the 20th century American Louis Hardin. Looking forward, Spring projects include: Postcards from Around the World, as director of the Kearsarge Community Band, on April 27th, 2025; and, a Spring Cantata, featuring works by Handel, Stephen Paulus, and others, as director of the South Congregational Church Senior Choir, on May 4, 2025. |
