Due to the ongoing global pandemic, it is with the deepest regrets and a profound disappointment that we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Canoe Trip for 2020.
The steps that we would have to take to hold the trip while mitigating as much risk as we can are just not feasible. While there are some factors we could have some control over—how do we transport everyone safely to Le Domaine, which of our regular stops on the journey are acceptable, what would tenting have to look like—there are others that we do not. The US-Canadian border is still closed to non-essential travel, and will be for many weeks to come. Both the Canadian and US governments are requiring travelers to undergo a 14-day quarantine, which is not feasible for our campers. And the park itself might not accept non-citizen visitors.
We understand that this raises a lot of questions, especially for our older campers and our PILOTS. We do not have answers for you at this time. But we promise you, we are working as a Leadership Team to make plans for the 2021 trip that keeps in mind the needs of everyone for whom the Canoe Trip is such a vital and important part of their lives. We will be sending out more information as some of these decisions are made.
God Bless you all, and we pray that you remain safe and healthy in this time of uncertainty.
